“Narnia like” Barili

🌾 Barili Escapade

Tucked in the southwestern part of Cebu, about 61 kilometers from Cebu City, lies the charming municipality of Barili—a place gifted with natural wonders and manmade gems that truly surprise the wandering heart.

History says its name came from balili, a kind of grass that grows abundantly in the area. But don’t worry—I’m not here to give a full history lecture. Let’s skip the textbook and dive right into the adventure. 😉

🌿 The Road to Mantayupan Falls

On our way to Mantayupan Falls in Barangay Campangga, the stunning sight of wide rice fields stopped us in our tracks. We couldn’t resist pulling over for some photos. It was one of those simple, cinematic moments that made us feel far from the noise of the city.

The falls are just around 4 km (10–15 minutes) from Barili’s Poblacion. The road is concrete and scenic—passing through small barangays and green fields.

Entrance fee: ₱20 for adults | ₱10 for kids
Corkage: ₱50 for food and drinks
(Funds go toward facility maintenance—worth it!)

💫 Is It Just Me… or Is This Narnia?

Okay, I might be exaggerating a bit…
But honestly, when I saw Mantayupan Falls, I was wide-eyed and enchanted.
The lush trees, cool air, and towering falls—everything felt like a scene out of Narnia.
(Haha yes, I said it! Just missing the talking animals.)

🎣 Tilapia Fishing & Horseback Fun

Next stop: the Tilapia Fishing Village and Restaurant.
We tried our luck catching fish (spoiler: I didn’t catch any 😂), but the experience was fun and oddly calming.

Then came the highlight of the day: horseback riding!
Cue my “heyaaah!” moment. It was a childhood dream fulfilled.

They also have a small swimming pool for guests who want to cool off after all the outdoor fun.

🥛 Molave Milk Station – The Perfect Ending

As our cousinventure came to a close, we stopped by Molave Milk Station for some well-earned treats.
Fresh milk from cows and carabaos, homemade ice cream, cheese, and yogurt—everything was refreshingly local and delicious.
