The Enchanting Tabogon, Cebu

 originally posted last 2015

🌊 Northern Paradise

It was one of those rare days off—when the sun was warm, our spirits were light, and the only plan was to escape.

My workmates and I decided to visit Tabogon, a third-class municipality tucked away in the northern part of Cebu. Just past Borbon, it’s a place you might overlook on the map… but one you’ll never forget once you’ve seen it.

I never imagined that such an untouched gem could exist—remote, quiet, less developed, yet blessed with nature’s softest wonders.
Think: “Paradise on Earth”—where the sea and sky melt into each other, and time doesn’t feel like it matters anymore.

One of our first stops was the famous Hanging Bridge in Salag, Tabogon.
It’s rustic, scenic, and the kind of place that makes you pause—whether from awe or slight fear (lol).

If you’re heading to Tabogon proper and looking for a place to swim or chill, I highly recommend the Sea Turtle Lagoon.
You’ll need to take a “habal-habal” (motorcycle taxi)—just flag one down and ask to be dropped off at the resort. The ride takes about 20 minutes or less.

It’s worth the detour: peaceful waters, a charming view, and a name that already feels like a story.

Now let me tell you about Canao-Canao—a scenic, mountainous area deep in Tabogon’s interior.

It took me an hour on a motorcycle to get there (and yes, kasakit jud sa akong lubot 😅), but the views? Absolutely worth it.

It’s wide, quiet, and soul-soothing—the kind of place that whispers, “Breathe.”

Sadly, I didn’t have enough time to see everything.
I missed the chance to visit the Tabogon Spring, and I know there’s still more waiting—hidden trails, secret views, untold stories.

But maybe that’s the magic of Tabogon…
It leaves you wanting to come back.
