Relationship Tips: Marriage Partner

Love grows over time, but attraction helps fuel that connection and keep it vibrant.

In my view, there are three essential characteristics to look for in a marriage partner. First and foremost is compatibility. Spending the rest of your life with someone is a serious commitment, and without shared values, aligned goals, and common interests, it can feel more like a struggle than a true partnership. Compatibility doesn’t mean you have to be identical, but it does mean that your differences should complement rather than conflict. Secondly, I believe it’s important that your partner fits well into your family dynamic. While your relationship is primarily between the two of you, acceptance and support from loved ones can make a significant difference in your long-term happiness. Without a sense of harmony between your partner and your family, you may find yourself torn between important relationships. Lastly, attraction matters. Since fidelity is part of the commitment in marriage, the expression of love—physically and emotionally—will be limited to one person. It’s important that you’re genuinely drawn to your partner, not just emotionally but physically, too. Love grows over time, but attraction helps fuel that connection and keep it vibrant.
