My first-ever caravan experience brought me to the breathtaking beauty of Ladram Bay Holiday Park in East Devon—a hidden gem tucked along England’s stunning Jurassic Coast. It was more than just a weekend escape—it was a slow, sweet pause from the noise of everyday life.
🚐 Home on Wheels
We stayed in a modern static caravan that far exceeded my expectations.
It had all the comforts of home—
A fully equipped kitchen for impromptu meals, an ensuite toilet in the master bedroom, a double shower in the main bathroom (yes, spacious!), and a cozy yet roomy living area perfect for morning coffee and late-night chats.
It didn’t feel like “roughing it” at all.
It felt like a small, simple luxury—surrounded by nature’s quiet brilliance.
🌊 Seaside Strolls and Salty Air
Just a short walk down the hill from our caravan, we reached The Shack—a beachside spot serving up ice cream, cold drinks, and tasty snacks (the perfect treat after a day of exploring).
From there, you can rent kayaks, rowing boats, or motorboats, letting you drift into the sea and soak up the Jurassic Coast from a new perspective.
The coastline views were rugged, raw, and unforgettable—a natural backdrop that made every moment feel cinematic.
🏖️ A Day in Sidmouth
We also ventured out to Sidmouth, a nearby seaside town that felt like stepping into another era.
With its stately architecture, vintage charm, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, Sidmouth radiates that quintessential Westcountry feel.
Wandering through the town felt like time slowed down.
Charming cafes, independent shops, and views of the sea at every turn—each corner held a little piece of calm.

💬 Final Thoughts
This Devon getaway reminded me of the beauty in stillness—how sometimes, you don’t need a faraway flight to feel renewed.
Sometimes all you need is a caravan, the sea breeze, and good company to remember what it means to simply be present.
If you’ve never stayed in a caravan by the sea—add it to your list.
And if you ever find yourself in East Devon, let Ladram Bay and Sidmouth wrap you in their timeless charm.
With salty air and grateful heart,
Anj 🐚
